Problems with running wider tires?

Im thinking of moving to a 38x15.50, and wondered what problems to expect from a tire that wide. I havent ran wider then a 12.50 before.

you should be fine but your ball joints could break if you wheel at all

Why is that? I can see other steering components having problems, but I dont see why the balljoints would? I do have larger balljoints on my front 9", but they arent that much better then the dana 30.

Depending on the tire, rim and suspension choice you may have to limit your steering. If you have outboarded leafs or links that sit wide on the axle and run something like a Bogger with big side lugs, the lugs may grab your leafs or links when turned. A simple fix is to adjust out your steer-stops on the knuckle.

take it to newb,

i just went from 38.5x16 to 38x12.5, i got alot of steering back with no rubbing at all, wider helps get traction but hurts in other areas, 14.5 might be ok, but i look forward to my 12.5s again.
