Project #2 - 93' 4.0 from Cherokee stroked to 4.5. Original 4.0 ran fine but I thought I wanted a Stroker. I used original intake manifold with original sensors. O2 sensor relatively new. CPS is original mounted to bell housing of AW-4 transmission. It starts great and idles fine but it stalls if I attempt to rev up engine and backfires occasionally. When hooked up to computer, no error codes given. I checked fuel pressure and regulator seems to be working - ~ 35#'s pressure which builds up to ~42#'s with vacumn hose disconnected. I did install a new (rebuilt) distributor. Help!

Check your spark plug wires and routing, Distributor, timing etc... I'd bet its an ignition problem.

are the injectors pumping enought fuel under throttle?

loosen the exhaust at the manifold and see if you can rev it. maybe somebody put something in your exhaust. or maybe something was living in the exhaust and is in front of the cat now.
