YJ steering wheel disconnect
I need to order a pinless hub for my steering wheel disconnect and can't get my hands on my rig for a while. I need to determine if the shaft is 3/4 or 5/8. Will be going on an '87.
Searched and found some things about different hubs but nothing on shaft size?? Last edited by SPOA87YJ; 01-11-2008 at 10:20 AM. |

IIRC my '91 was 3/4". I eventually pulled the stock column (should have done this in the first place) and went with a 3/4" tube and u-joint assy from Day Motorsports and was able to reuse my quick disconnect.
edit: http://www.daymotorsports.com/product/357/ Great service and delivery!

The YJ shaft is a 36 spline GM shaft. A Grant #3001 is a direct bolt on to a stock yj column. I'm running one in my YJ.

I got it from Summit it was $130 or so. A little pricey I guess, but it seems to be a good quality piece.

Cool, thanks for the good info. Looks like just the pinless hub is $170 by itself. Not trying to skimp out here, but that is way out of my price range. I've found numerous other hubs ranging from $20-$80 that seem to be of equal quality but only specify 3/4 or 5/8. Does anyone have a concrete measurement on their shaft?

I'm 99% sure it's a 3/4" shaft. The thread on the end of the shaft is a 5/8" thread.

Stock is a 3/4" 36 spline. Same as a Chevy column
