YJ on 404's
YJ on 404’s
This build has been somewhat ongoing for the past two years, but I think it finally is going to start to get interesting. I started with a 93 yj 4.0 which I have had for the past 10 years. I ran stock with 32s until I was able to finally afford what I wanted to do. Here is the jeep before I did anything to it. ![]() 1st thing I did was put a 4.5 inch RE lift on it and some 35’s. Then I swaped out the d35 for a f8.8 with a detroit and I put an arb into the dana 30 All a big waste of $$$. Ran it like this for a bit.

Jeep did ok as it was but was figuring out that I wanted to go bigger!
At FordyceCame across a pretty good deal on some axles. ![]() Didn’t know what I wanted to do with them. Put them on the current ride or start a new one? The mogs sat in the yard for a few months while I thought about what do do with them.

Breaking the dana 30 going down hill helped me figure out what I was gonna do with the mogs real quick.
![]() ![]() If you’re running the dana 30 a spare shaft isn’t enough cary upper and lower ball joints… This thing broke way to easy, oh well live and learn…

Conv. kit Portal removed 404 shaft![]() ![]() Portal housing on the bench with the hub (now garbage) and main gear removed. The new hup put together. New hub with studs and caliper brackets bolted on. F350 calipers and rotors. H2 wheels on.

Got anxious and put just the tires under it. I wish I could get it this low. This will probably be how it sits full stuff.
![]() ![]() I got kicked by a horse last week and had to get some screws and plates put in my arm. So I’ll be down for a few weeks to let it heel. Got most the parts on order to finish this thing and they should be here by the end of next week. This is my 1st build, being done by asking a lot of questions and buying a red star. All help and comments are appreciated. Ill update as soon as the arm is good to go.

depending on where you muont the uppers mounts for the coilovers, you shouldn't have much of a problem keeping your height you want, you'll just have hoops sticking through the hood, which is always cool. i'm at 110'' and at about 83'' or so to the top of the cage, i can fit through a standard garage door easily. i could have lowered it quite a bit if i would have gone with a 3 link instead of the double triangulated 4 link up front.
here's what mine looked like before it was done (only good side pic of it).

the mogs are the only reason i would think you would have to run them through the hood, as long as you don't go crazy long on the coilover, keep it to like a 12'' or so, and you'll be fine.
