Drove 75 miles home from going wheeling today with zero problems, then the wife and I go to get something to eat and on the way back it feels like the brakes are dragging really bad and starting to stink so we pull over. All four are hot hot hot, so I go around and check for bent, pinched or damaged lines...nothing. Plenty of fluid in the master, vac hose to booster isn't pinched or anything.
So I figured what the heck I'll try and rebleed them since I had the tools in back to do it. Seemed to have helped a little but not much and about 1 mile later I pulled over again. This time I removed the vac hose to the booster, plugged it and ran without it. Brakes still dragging but not as noticeable and not as hot either so a 15 minute drive took us about 45 minutes to get home.
The only thing that really happened on the trail today was I flopped the Jeep over on it's side in a deep washout area and even then it wasn't completely over. Other than that nothing else and like I said no problems on the way home.
This is on my 89 XJ with stock discs up front and 8.8 with discs in back, 1 ton ford van master cylinder, removed the o-ring in the proportioning valve and I have about 1500 miles since doing this brake work with no problems till now. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
