I have a buddy with a '86 CJ-7 w/dana 44 rear, 4.09 gears, and a detroit. He rolled the Jeep and would be willing to sell the rear for $100. I currently have the stock AMC 20 rear, 4.10 gears, gusseted housing, a detroit, and one pieces. Is it worth the $? Will i gain strength or are they about the same?
Hmm let me see:
You will gain tube strength having the 44 but if your 20 is already gusseted then you relly won't gain. If I were you I would keep your money cause it's not worth it. You will lose the locker and the R&P in the 20 is bigger. I run a waggy 20 with 37's and haven't broken it yet (knock on wood), and lately I have been trying so I can upgrade it ( must prove to wife that upgrade is warranted)
Save your money, or buy it and resell it for about $400. Someone would snag it up.
