That's exactly what I did for my CJ pickup:

When you get to that point in your build I can point you to my build thread, all the steps for modifying the top are documented.

A few spy photos of the work in progress on the Safari modular half cab...

Roof, door surrounds and rear wall are separate pieces for easy removal and storage. There's also a version of the rear wall in the works that allows the roll bars to pass through so the top can be installed with the factory roll bars in place.

We need more separate "truck bed" projects. Where are they?

Like this:

How is this coming along?

I agree.
When they say cab truck, I think of a totally seperate bed.Slapping a half cab on a CJ/YJ/TJ doesnt make it a cab truck

My yj/aqualu project is almost done. Paint, rear bumper and suspension seats are the only thing left.

Build pics here, feel free to post them up.
http://picasaweb.google.com/10552000...302/JeepTruck#

The stats are:
92 yj beater
4.0,ax15,231d
D30/d44, 4:88's, arb's
35x12.5x17's
SUA waggy fronts, cj7 rears
6' bed
Cj8 half top
124" wheelbase
Approximate 29" of frame rail added in the center
12" added out back

Cab notes:
I wish I would have started with a straighter tub. The door sill/pillar was tweaked in. It has caused a bunch of headaches on the top fitment. I used replacement rear corners to close the cab out. The quality of the panels was
pretty terrible, recommend using stock corners if possible.

Frame notes:
I used 2"x4"x.25" tube to lengthen the frame. We scarfed the joints to increase the weld length. I tapered the 2.5" wide frame rail down to 2" at the joints and then covered the inside with .25" fish plates. Brad welded up the frame extensions and did great work. Fabbed new body mounts from 4x4x3/16 tube and moved them up an inch.

Cj10 cab length, cj8 half top
What do you mean by this? I thought the CJ10 cab was shorter than a CJ8 cab? Badass build by the way.

Still looking for a good CJ8 top in my area to start with. Although I have been considering saving longer and getting a G8Top to start with....

Good catch I thought they were the same length. The cab length matches the cj8 top. Found the top on CL for $250. I built a pretty simple fill panel to fill the gap between the back of the top and the tub.

Thanks, I think. It was a fun little build. It wasn't anything high-tech, but I was pretty happy with the end result. The motor is a dog, though. It struggled pushing the thing along with 4.10 gears and 34s.

That's why I ripped my sd33 out and replaced it with a 4bt!

Especially in Houston traffic, the ability to pass someone will be nice.

NEVER!

Their ugliness is a big part of their coolness and uniqueness

Besides, I need the room where CJ headlights would be for my intercooler!

It would seem that you do not know why the front clip has to be the way it is on a CJ10a.

My roommate actually traded for this yj back in the fall, its currently sitting in our shop getting 60's and 42" kevlars so its changing just a "lil" bit to say the least only for the better though. can promise that.

Do you have a build thread on it?

What are the specs on it?

Have you done any kind of cage work?

Specs:Front 60 rear Sterling 10.25 H1s 42"s Hydro assist or full
4.3 700r4 Painless wiring
[May change if I sell it]
cut body 30" added 30" to the frame. Will have a 1" gap between bed leaving 59" of bed.Bed is cardboard for now and will be till the end of build. So I can modify easily.
Rear axle will be moved forward 4" as 125.5" wheelbase is too much with the H1s and 67" Dodge axle

Enough blah blah blah 1 pic and then starting a thread
Attached Images

Finally got it painted and assembled. Next up is trimming the rear bed skirt and finishing the tail light wiring. The pics are a little blurry, but the paint looks decent for a $700 Miracle job.
