Well, after the first test drive, i'm toying with the idea of a flare on the rear wheel well like what is below. Even with a little water in puddles on the road, there was a ton of spray tossed into the back seat even driving at low speeds.

Not a whole lot to show today. Got a lot more done for paint prep and did some wiring and thinking.

Finished up the panel and mount for switches and the CB. Sand blast and powdercoat will come tomorrow maybe.

Got the exhaust down pipe in. From a 97 TJ with a 4.0. Different mounting and routing makes it line up perfect and clear the much flatter belly plate. Was a direct bolt in.

Really tucks up nice under there.

One of the kids was learning how to run the cnc plasma. Had some left over super thin diamond plate laying around from when I was fixing a camper last winter. Dunno if it'll make it to the final version but it was still kinda cool.

I tried to go back and find it, but what springs are you running front and rear? What did the wheel base end up at?

Waggy front with a leaf pulled if I remember right. And the rear is a bastard upped XJ set. WB ended up being 104. I still don't know how these guys get the rigs so low with leafs. I am as low as I can go, even frenched the front mounts for the rear springs and the rear springs are pretty flat. With 43's, it just can't get any lower and still have any uptravel and not have to cut up into the wheel wells on the inside of the tub.

After the first test drive, realized that there was a lot of spray into the back seat. Not good for kids. So we added a little coverage.

And toying with the idea of turning this......

Into an on-board welder. Have to figure out what the amp rating is. It's a 24 volt alternator off this.....

Numbers....is a Motorcraft alternator.

the final flare looks good. 1" solid rod?

and glad you didn't go with the 14 inch Icelandic flare design.

LOL....i knew you guys over there on MichiganWheelers would freak out.

Ended up using 7/8 solid for the edges. It's what I had around and I don't have a die for my bender that small and I didn't want to use large DOM. Because I don't like the look and I don't like the cost.

Spy pics of the first coat of Durabak. It will get 2 coats of texture, non UV safe and then a few coats of smooth Durabak that is UV safe. Non UV is a bit cheaper and good for the base. I like the texture because it hides a lot of the welds and body work but I tried it on one Jeep with just full texture...like 5 coats and it was tough to clean and would take skin off if you rubbed against it. 2 coats of texture and then use the whole gallon of smooth and it gives a great looking texture and holds up well to abuse.

Durabak actually has real texture in it. Ground up rubber.

Dude, pirate is about opinions,,,,,,,,we all get to share ours. Great job on the build, I like it.

Here goes mine concerning the bed liner. What the fawk! Why ruin a great rig. Id much rather see a painted rig with scratches all over it than a bed lined rig. Srcathes just look like scars and it can eventually be re-sprayed even with a rattle can. That bed-liner is permanent shit. Bed-liner always looks dirty and feels like shit! The military doesn't even put that shit on there vehicles.

Well maybe I can check it out at EJS and your rig will completely change my mind.

Opinions are great. And I welcome yours. This is the 5th rig done with Durabak and I personally love it. i don't think they always look dirty...you just have to wash it. If it gets scuffed, you roll more on. It's not sprayed. It comes in a gallon can and you roll it on.

Black on the bottom is Durabak.

And yes, it was wheeled.

Well good job,,,and you know what they say about opinions,,,,,like assholes everybody's got one. How boring would off roading be if all the rigs were done the same. When do we get to see some wheeling videos?

I am hoping to have it done in the next week or 2 and then take it into Canada for a shakedown.
