You could always custom make your own kit, mixing and matching, making the best kit EVAR

Skyjacker has/had problems with the 8" kit. The axle cradle that comes with the kit had a nasty habbit of breaking at the welds. I'm not sure if the problem has been ironed out...I'm guessing that it has as the kit has been out for over a year.

Secondly, skyjackers springs are very soft...expect the leafs to sag within a year of so. It depends if you use the xj to haul shit around or not.

Last, I dunno how universal that front cradle is but I beleive that it's designed for the D30. With 8" lift you'll prolly be on 35's? In any case 33's or bigger is too much rubber for the toothpick 30 to spin.

Ahh, I dont think we should all get carried away with SJ. I have run their 8" coils and leafs for 2 yrs now. ZERO problems. BUT!!! I wont touch anything else of theirs! I heard to many bad things about their stuff breakin. But I wanted soft coils and leafs, and I love em'! I went with my own long arms and shit. If you are ganna go big with an XJ, talk to RE of SJ. You can get good drop brakets and adjustable arms from RE and good lift stuff from SJ. Use REs tract bar drop braket and either make your own or buy REs tract bar. And then figure something our for that crappy steering! THEN YOUR SET.

Got Claytons?

My ideal setup:

Clayton's LAs(or homemade copies)
SJ 8" coils
BOR 6" leafs w/ 1.5" shackle(nets around 8-9" of lift)
Custom steering/tracbar to fit the new axle you'll be swinging under it

Peace

Ary

I've basically got the same setup Arya

Rusty's 6" front springs (over 6" lift)
clayton's longarm
BOR 6" rear springs with shackle. Pretty much have 8" of lift.

Just finshed the custom crossover steering last night.

I've heard bad things about skycrappers stuff, but as said above their springs aren't bad.

As far as I'm concerned no one makes a 'good' 8" kit nor should they. 8" in an XJ is too high to be going into buying a kit off the shelf. It takes time/research to get it right.

But i'm already at 8" so what do I care. my 36's like it.

Running as the above to have stated.

RE 4.5 ZJ Coils
BOR 6in leafs and 1.5 lift shackle
My own long arms just about finished.
Still need work on the steering.

With the cut fenders I have already, I hope to be on 37s soon.

I agree that you should mix and match parts. You will get the best of everything. I am personnaly running Clayton's LAs with Rockkrawler 6.5" springs (will be going coilover's at some point in the next year or so) and Rusty's HD trackbar mount and bar. In the rear I was running 6" Rusty's springs w/1.5" shackles, but will probably be running some variation of Grand Waggy springs with a relocated rear shackle mount (kind of like Borton's).

I hate to get this started but....I know RockKrawler has HAD issues in the past but they have all been worked out. I beta tested that XJ system almost 2 years ago and I wont lie, I broke ALOT of things. But every replacement part was built stronger and I only broke them once. Every co. has had some problems, but I think for the $$$ the RK kit is the best way to go....or like everyone else has said....mix and match, some people have had good luck that way!!!! Good Luck!!!

i didn't catch what year your jeep was, but if it's a 99+ you have to be careful with the skyjacker kit cause of the low pinion dana 30 and the x-member, the driveshaft will hit, i've got the 8" RR and haven't had any problems, if you run 35's expect to trim a little though and if you are worried about their welds build your own

edit: the hiems are loud!!!!

Definitely consider claytons! It is super beefy and you can always adjust later to pretty much what ever hieght you want (6"and up). It is super well made and clayton is a pleasure to work with. I recomend clayton. as I'm sure many others do to. For the springs I have skyjacker rr 8Inch with a 2inch poly spacer and the alcan 8inch leafs from BOR. I think that a pretty good amount of guys are running this set up and It is working well. just my opinion.......

i think you should be debating only which coils to use, you should build the rest and then you dont have to worry about what arms and joints are stonger.
