tubs/bodys built from tubing

The tub is rusted thru so I'm gonna start tearing apart my 80 CJ-5. I'm not really interested in buying a new tub just to beat the hell out of it. I'm gonna build something out of tubing. I,m just looking for ideas on a design. Pics would be appreciated. I've heard that this is the hard core Jeep site so lets see some hard core rigs.

welcome newbie

you will catch a lot of shit for a while about being a newbie, so play things smart and do search upon search for hard core rigs, cause there are an ass load of them on this site

Dan what are you going to do with the suspension? Do you want to drive it up here in the winter or are you looking to make a buggy. We don't have a lot of real tough stuff in the area yet, so a fully tubed buggy doesn't make a lot of sense where it is below zero in the winter. You could search for these users, they have their cages tied into their frames, and more tubing for protection.

i think theres a guy with the user name poppy or something like that, he built the rear half of a tub from tubing and it still looked like a jeep.

Pottsy, it's an early CJ-5 with the whole tub built out of tubing, not exactly hardcore, but one of the coolest rigs on 31's and stock axles I've seen in a long time.

I think this is what he wants to do. Last I talked to Dan he was thinking of keeping the windsheild forward and building the back of the tub out of tubing and skinning it with sheetmetal. A full roll cage would also be incorporated.

As far as being cold, I don't think he cares. That's what hats are for. I spent the weekend riding with him and yeah, it's cold but so what.

Dan, search for Twisted customs jeep buggy, or Cambell enterprises early buggys, both did tube and skin jeep bodys.

Grand Rapids in the first pic. The second is from "Jacobs Woods" down by Rolling Stone. Jacobs is a member of the Roughriders, and opens up his land every now and then to rigs.

I checked out your gallery, you guys sure go to the pits a ton!
