Need help!! Should i buy this d60 tomorrow??????????
Came across what i think might be a good deal. Planning a rear stretch in the coming months. guy wants $400 for the axle, says there is only very minor surface rust on the detroit, none on the ring gear. Reason i like it, 4:88s and a detroit are already there. He said it came from a 76-79 F250 and thats all he knows. He did say it was a FF as well, but didnt know spline count.
Thinking of offering him 300? Thoughts??? ![]() ![]()

At 400 bucks he should be willing to pull a shaft out and count.
But at 400 bucks, I'd bet it's 30 spline.

Depending on what you are running it in the 16 spline may hold up fine as well. The size difference between the two axle shafts is less than 1/8". I have a 16 spline 60 in the back of a CJ5 right now actually. Measure the WMS, if it's 63.5" then it's a 16 spline but if it's the wider 67" then it's 30 spline

Thats an HD 60 or a dana 61 ,both late model and could have 30 or 35 spline depending on option list .
The deep ribbing gives it away, but a tough axle ,stronger then run of the mill dana 60's . And point made earlier;detroit cost over $500 and gears with bearings $280+
