Rough Country Long Arm kit on MJ
I have an 88 Jeep Comanche that I'm trying to put a Rough Country Long Arm kit on. It has the Peosough (spelling) transmission. The RC crossmember does not line up with the rear mount. I called RC and no help. It seems to be about 4 inches shorter than the other trannys. I might try and make a new rear mount and trim the crossmember to fit around the transfer case (231)/trans. I have a few questions.
1. Has anybody installed an RC long arm on a comanche. Did it fit? 2, There are 2 sets of mounting holes in the frame. One set for the peosough and another set for the AX15?? which is about 4 inches longer I think. If I replace the trans and trans case what would be the unit I would need.? 3. I guess I would need a longer front drive shaft and shorter rear shaft? 4. Dose the shifter and TC lever fit in the same holes? A lot of things are the same between an XJ and MJ but a lot of frame difference. So before I hack off the LCA brackets I need to know if its going to work. Any help or questions are appreciated. Thanks for the info. I found out the hard way. I made a rear mount that would work but about the time I was welding it up the POS internal slave started going out again. So not wanting to spend the extra $ and time to repair I found an AX15 and 231 with the correct shaft. Just collecting a few more parts and it should be good to go.
