Anyone try putting Tech4 stuff on an iron duke?
So I've got an '81 cj5 with the iron duke. it's an okay runner, but the distributor is mounted really low (below the intake manifold) which makes it really susceptible to water.
When I bought the jeep, the motor had a knock, so i put a crank kit in and noticed the new crank had provisions for a crank trigger. Has anyone tried swapping the coil pack ignition setup (and possibly EFI) over to this little bastard? |

I ran a 151 for years in my CJ-7 and the distributor never once gave me issues, even when playing in the water.
All in all it was a great motor, I never did any performance upgrades to it, but with 4:56 gears and an SM420, I could crawl with 35" goodyears with the best of them and I never once broke a driveline part. I could even (barely) get up to 65 on the (flat or downhill stretch) highway. It eventually spun a main bearing and a junkyard 350 was cheaper. |

Hell, I may just leave it alone then. I thought it was funny to see that big old HEI distributor down there.
