The 220 welder is off site. So I measured my pinion angle so we can set spring clamps at same angle where the 220 welder is. And I can be prepped and ready to burn. Save time too.

Looks like you realy limited your turning radious with those big tires by narrowing that axle???
Do the tires rub the springs? or does it clear at full bump?

As of now this build thread is in real time. I am in process of figuring my steering and getting gears in the 8.8 in back. Once it is on the street I will be able to answer your rubbing concerns. As stated in the first post, I am not ever going past 35 inch tires with this rig. I ruled out full width options because it sees the street quite a bit. Besides 75% of my wheeling takes place at Cliffs Insane Terrain. Where the trails can get quite tight between trees. If I do get some limit of turning radius in there somewhere. I will chalk it up as saving ujoints...lol.

So I started looking into how long to drill my pitman arm. I have a flat blank from parts mike. I was advised my pitman arm should be the same length as ball joint to tre. This is what I ended up with.

I asked some questions. I did some searching. After reading up on Ackermans angles and hearing of people using longer or shorter pitman arms from various vehicles for different reasons I was frustrated and confused. Being this late in the build I chose to drill about 6.75 center hole to center hole.

The initial thing I noticed is the nut on the tre would not sit flush on the tre. I wasn't comfortable with this. So I took the grinding wheel and ground the bottom of the pitman arm just a bit so when the tre nut is torqued down it sits flush against the arm.

Going to have to wait till rear end is together to do some flex testing. But I have a feeling this is going to be a close call. May have to loose my stretch till I can move box forward a bit.

Well I can't find a way to jack up to full compession in my garage. So I am going to finish steering so I can drive up something like a fiero to check for binding. I reamed the tre to accept tre.

Thanks to overkill for taking time out to weld my steering together.
![]() Finally out of garage under own power. I need to figure out the vent on the 44. Weld shock tabs on the 44 and shorten the front driveshaft.sent from darkside of the moon |
