Gear Install $$$

Ok we have been doing gear installs for quite awhile now and never had any bad feedback. We have never had a gear set come back due to an incorrect install it seems most of the people are complaining about our prices. What are you guys paying for gear installs in the vehicle, bare axle, just a third member??? I really thought our install prices were fair just wondering what you guys are paying and if you think its an acceptable amount.

I've been paying about $150 a drop out 3rd member by a local 4x4 shop, never had a problem

yea about $200 set up in axle and $150 or so for set up third member seems to be fair going rate now a days at a lot of shops

Wow, I'd pay those prices all day long. I've been quoted 500 an axle in labor alone by my local shop. I think he probably doesn't like doing gears which is why it may be that way. I need to shop around for sure.

I know the guy pretty well so not sure if he's giving me a "deal" but with my axle (dana 60, I will do the 14 my self) not in my jeep yet he said hed to the gears, locker, new seals, etc for 150. He is a certified tech and has set up thousands of gears. I only mention that because hes not some shade tree guy and still only charges 150.

Me too about 500. I asked just outa lack of time due to work i considered dropping my axles off just to get it done. When i heard this i made time to get it done lol

If a customer brings me a bare third member I charge $150 If I get a bare axle brought to me with no shafts or anything I usually charge $200 If a customer brings me a whole driving vehicle where I have to pull everything out I charge 300 for everything unless its an ARB install I always charge more usually around 350.......Do you guys feel this is fair???

My guy charged me 150 per full axle.
removed shafts and all.
Installed two gear sets and a spool and a few bearings for 300 total.

Have not purchased my gears yet. One shop quoted 400.00 per axle and another 500.00 rear and 650.00 front.
Gotta shop around more>

this seems like a fair price to the average dude imho.

I had a buddy install mine in the YJ, he is good with that sort of thing, I think he charged 150 per axle but I can't remember for sure. I have drank since then. I didn't think that was a bad price. I even lent a hand on the install, it was cool to see the process.
