Don't let that ball joint go with a bad boot. One of ours had a ball joint fail while driving. Since they are in tension, the lower control arm hits the ground, and the wheel goes up. I have always thought it was silly to have ball joints in tension instead of compression.

I'll start with Yeah KJ's are basically the 3 dollar bill of Jeeps (until you do a SAS on them then you still have to get used to the idea that you now drive a 7$ Bill lol), and as an FYI that rear rezeppa joint is the exact same one that is used on the Grands and can be bought and quite easily replaced fo far less than 500$ I mean that's a lot of Beers out of the budget. http://www.driveshaftparts.com/cv-jo.../prod_430.html

You should also watch for it to start pulling weird hard acceleration, or when shifting under hard accelleration that will let you know it's time to take a look at your upper tri-link body bushings and lower control arms in the back. If you haven't replaced them yet you likely will be soon enough, I got tired of working on my KJ and just manned up to the Axle swap/rear 4 link.

I found that same site searching today, going to spring for a new shaft soon. It's been a good DD for my wife, just seems like after it hit 100k it's been one issue after another.
