good luck finding picks of an exo on a WJ, even if you could find one I would imagine it would likely be more for looks then for function. The majority of people who would think there WJ needs an exo would hopefully realize they would be much better off selling the WJ and buying something that better suites there needs. Just think of the buggy you could have for the price of your jeep, then buy a honda to get to work.

the problem is....my buddy's jeep has had irreversible mods made, and if he were to try to sell it, getting $5k would be about tops. considering the amount that has already gone into the WJ, it makes more sense to just build it instead of trying to sell it and then purchase some other platform to start from.
i already have the general layout planned as far as the tube work and whatnot, just lookin for some other ideas |

I think your best bet is to look at XJ external cages and then design your cage based off of that - with obivous changes to match the more curved and slightly larger body.
whatever happens - take pictures - i got a friend that is just itching for body damage to his WJ, because after that - its all gone...

also check the toyota board, they love exo's (well some of them at least) lots of good and bad examples and little features you could include in your design.

IMO a WJ would be much better off with an internal cage. These things are shaped like jelly beans and unless you have the time and resources to make a cage that would contour the body as to not get hung up on every other rock, I wouldn't bother.

im sure if you search, between XJ's and ZJ's you should be able to ge the idea. Here are some pics of a ZJ with an internal/external cage tied together......http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...eak+zj+exocage

There are pics on this board of a couple WJ;s with internal stout cages, and I believe there was one of a rolled WJ that got an exo. I think mallcrawlin board had more pics of that rig.

check out cages made by SAFETY DEVICES for trucks such as land rovers...they have the inner to outer cage thing nailed...i
've seen a rig go over more than once and those cages do fine...don't listen to the naysayers...just go for it...open your billfold at the same time though...lol.. |
