YJ wipers/motor SLOW - any one else
I have a 93 YJ and my wipers are annoyingly slow. I believe there are three speeds, slow, slower, and stopped not counting the off position.
Does anyone else have this experience? Is there a way to fix it? I was thinking about puting in a wiper motor from a TJ or some other vehicle that was faster after figuring out if it fit or not. Or is something just busted? TIA

Its entirely possible and probable the motor is cooked. Had the same problem with mine, just make sure that nothing in binding too.

My 89 has the same wiper speeds as yours. Really slow, slower, and stuck. All when in the on position... If there is mud on the windshield they get stuck. If you have any luck with a TJ motor please post up...

I took a look at them, but it only looked like their setup was to change the angle of the blades so that they start flush with the bottom of the windshield instead of up off of the bottom.
In addition they are supposed to provide a larger wiping surface. I never thought about the fact that they might have a better motor. I will take a look, maybe call them, if I come up with something I will let post my results. UPDATE - I looked up the kit contents and it contains a new wiper motor arm, linkage, and wiper arms. No motor changes. QUOTE: "upgrade kits increase the sweep angle of your windshield wiper system..." Great idea though.

You can by pass it but you'll only have one wiper speed. Slow. Just pull the relay and plug the two wiring harnesses together. |
