2004 Rubi with engine issues
Hello all,
I bought a new '04 Rubi and have had a few problems with it that the dealer has not been able to fix yet. Problem 1. Engine pinging: This occurred about 95% of the time on 87 octane. Dealer hooked it up to the computer and said the timing was out 15 degrees. It was reset and a month later the problem has returned. Problem 2. Exhaust "pulses": The sounds of the exhaust (like a choo choo) were very noticable from the manifold side while driving. Dealer said header bolts and exhaust manifold bolts were loose. Tightened and when I got it back I can still hear the sounds though there is a 20% reduction maybe. I have had 2 TJ's before (97 and a 98) and this sound was never there, nor is it in another '04 that belongs to a friend. Before I go back to the dealer I would like to see if anyone knows what would be causing this so I can go armed with more information when I take it back. Thanks for the help! Gary |

THe dealer was probibly right about the timing and maybe just didnt set it right, and that could be why your exhaust dosent sound the same. have you done any engine mods the the rubicon yourself.

have you tried different brands of fuel? I have been told it does make a difference sometimes. How many miles on it?
