AMC 360 with truck avenger gas mileage ?

I just rebuilt my 360 and added a dual plane intake and truck avenger. Runs great but I can't carry enough gas. On the road at best I get 9, and on the trail it drinks it faster than I can put it in. What are people getting for mileage with this setup? What numbers for TBI and multiport? It's on a 79 CJ7, 35's, 4.56's, no overdrive.

Should I go back to the motorcraft or a Q jet?

Im also running a AMC 360, Edelbrock intake, and cam. 35" tires, T-18 4-speed, with 670 truck avenger, headers with 2.5" exhaust. Gettin around 10 mpg, wouldnt expect to get much more. Did you lean the carb out a bit before installed?, mine came way to rich from the factory.

I did a cam change too and it ran like shit so I even sent the carb back to have them re-work it. Turned out to be ignition so I threw on an MSD setup and now it purrs.

I have messed with the jets and I think my primaries are 66's now. I even tried 64's but it ran hot, 68's popped and sputtered a little at altitude.

I'm not sure headers would help the mileage much. I guess EFI would probably be the way to go for this or more fuel tanks. Anybody have EFI mileage numbers?

i rebuilt one for my grand but i keep the motor craft and rebuilt it myself in my grand with 31's and 4" lift not much else stock 3:73 gears i get 15 in town and 18 down highway. when it was rebuilt what compresion did you run? also cam? this mixture is deadly i ran 10:1 and a bigger cam right now can't remember cam size but did use crane. also i have a friend with a 360 in a jeep and he gets about the same as i do. your carb could be too rich also your ignition. if you can go msd. on a 304 i know a guy with howell efi he clams to get 15 running around with 35 and 4:10 i do not know for sure though.

Throw the truck avenger out, they are a waste of money on a Jeep

I would put the stock 2 barrell intake back on and run the piss out of that motorcraft 2100

They are cheap rebuilds but one of the best carbs ever made, and also a dime a dozen
