35's....37's.....big diff??
I have a hp d44 front, and a waggy d44 rear...they were in my Xj with 35's and they held up well...I beat on that thing pretty hard....
Now those axles are in my tj with 37 inch mtrs....Havent wheeled it yet. Alloys are in the plan but until then.... Am I screwed or will it hold up? |

Just realize you're on the outer working limits of the stock parts and adjust your driving style accordingly; that's the best advice I can give.

I ran Warn alloys and CTM in my old HP D44..... when the shit hits the fan, it hits hard!! When the outer shaft finally broke, the ball joints nuked too.... You're really pushing your luck on a D44, HP or otherwise.
BTW: Warn will not warranty failure when used with 'super u-joints'

running a waggy front and a TJ rear with moser shafts, and i have gotten on it pretty hard, run it yo uwill be fine, just know when to be locked, and when not......
lost front warn hub twice, (once was my fault, not fully ingaged) 3 driver side u-joints. (1 spicer, one junk, one the ears on my stub were blown out) rear, i managed to split my CV on the rear shaft this past weekend in the driveway, made it all weekend wheeling....... go figure

Just got back from the Hammers with 37 MTR's D30 & D44 in a TJ. No problems with them. Running Alloys and 760's with full clips.
Dont overdrive them and you wont have a problem.

I'm beating on my 44 with 38's, and its held up fine so far (3 good hard runs over the past two or three months). I have a 4 banger, but to my defense I've also got about 95:1 on the crawl ratio. My 44 is also built to the hilt, but I do run drive slugs.

It all depends on how hard you wheel, I would try and fine some spare shafts in the meantime until you get the alloys, and im hoping that when you get the alloys that you also get CTM's or atleast a superjoint......
