third break light wiring?
dose anyone know if 1993 YJ's had factory third break lights?
I've got a 3rd break light on my tire carrier, but it wasn't hooked up when I bought the jeep, and I'm wanting to hook it up now. just tieing ito the break lights at the back of the jeep won't work because doing that would cause the 3rd light to blink when the turn signals are on, and I don't want that. so I was wandering if there was a factory wire someplace that I could tie into, or if I need to go ahead and run a seperate wire from the break switch under the dash? thanks, muddyj |

Not sure about a 93, but my 95 has wiring for the 3rd brake light. If you look on the inside of the rear door jamb on the hinge side you should see two electrical contacts that make connection when the door is closed. What I did was to find the back side of those contacts inside the rear fender and cut/splice them into my brake light on my after market tire carrier.

thanks, I'll look and see if I can find those wires. as far as that thing on the inside of the tailgate, it's not there, and there is nothing on the side of the wheel well that it would have contacted, but I kinda suspect the previous owner just took that stuff off when he bedlined the tub.
