Hey guys im new here. I just got a 89 jeep cherokee limited 4.0L. For some reason it didnt pass smog because its running rich. After hooking up a timing light to every sparkplug wire it seems that i have a random misfire. It has a brand new cap, rotor, and plugs. Sometimes if i warm it up, shut it off, then restart it, it starts fine but then bogs down for a second then dies. But then i go to start it again, and it runs fine. I also noticed that when i start it cold, and tap the gas it hesitates for a second then picks back up. The check engine light isnt on which kinda throws me for a loop. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks guys

the kick down then back up is probably your TPS. might also have something to do with the miss

Is there any way to adjust it? Sorry... i just got the thing and dont know too much about em. Maybe ill run through the connectors, and clean em out. Thanks for your reply

My guess would actually be the coil. Sounds like what my CJ was doing before the coil went out.
