Clutch hose fittings
Does anybody know what the correct size fittings are for the clutch hose on an 88 YJ with the 4.2L?? My hose burst and I don't want an OEM replacement so I need to get hose and ends to make my own.
Thanks. |

Use brake line. Take out the plastic clutch line and use it as a template to bend, cut, and flare a line - this won't break. Another option is to use a flex brake line if you have the extra cash and desire more flexibility.

What's there now is hard steel line (brake line) with about 4 inches of rubber line in the middle so the drivetrain can move. I want to replace the whole thing with braided steel line but need to know what size hose and fittings to order.

Remove your current fittings and measure OD and thread pitch. To run braded line, you'll probably want to use AN fittings. You'll need ASE (your current fittings: 45* flare) to AN adapters (37* flare). I think Advanced Adapters sells the adapters and hose; look in their clutch section. Also peruse SummitRacing.com for brake line fittings.
