Transmission mount

The transmission mount that I had on my T18 was 1 3/4" tall. I just installed my T5 WC and 4:1 D300 (pics and write up are coming), so Im gona finish up the flat skid, it seems alot easier with the T5! I could use the 1 3/4" tall mount, but I was wondering if there are any stock CJ mounts that are maybe around 1" tall???? There are no dimmensions on Advance auto's or 4wd hardware's web sites. That would allow about 1/8" more clearance between the water pump pulley and electric fan, and every little bit helps!

The other thought that I had was this... I have a stick of body mounting rubber laying around somewhere. I was thinking about cutting a 3/4" - 1" piece of that, then just running a bolt from the cross member through the rubber mount and bolting it to the transmission. I would make up some big washers so there is even compression of the rubber mount, and lock nuts so I dont have to crunch the rubber too much either. I think this will work out fine, Im just looking for opinions or other options.

Thoughts ideas?

The factory 1979 CJ5 T18 skid plate should have seven 1/8” metal strips between the frame and the skid plate that the stock T150 will not. The T150 and T18 torque brackets are also different. The T18 bracket should be ¼” thick while the T150 bracket is thinner and wider. The T150 torque bracket bolts to the bottom of the transmission while the T18 bolts to the bottom of the stock tranny/xcase adaptor. (It really is a stock part of the T18 however.) There should also be another ¼” plate between the torque bracket and the adaptor plate.

This may not be a direct answer to your question as you are using a T5 not a T150, but I would go down to NAPA and start comparing mounts as it seems to me that Jeep just added or subtracted plates as needed to get everything to line up.

I went to the local Advanced Auto (there isnt a napa around anymore), they let me go in the back and pic through everything, but I didnt find anything that was gona work. I even looked through their books and didnt find any kind of dimensions of them either.

Hmmm...I can tell you this, the Energy Suspensions trans mount is way taller than the stock mount that was in my 76 CJ5 with T18:

I ended up having to 'custom' make a torque arm stud that would work. The stock torque arm on my 76 was 'P' shaped..You can see it in the pics.

Probably doesn't help much for your install.

actually it does!!!!! In its stock form, it looks like the mount that you have would work. SO.... which transmission is that mount stock for, so I can tell the window lickers at Advanced Auto which one to order... Thanks!
