X2 with what Knuckelhead said. Not everyone has to have Dana 60's. Not saying I wouldn't want one but you get my point. Wheel it smart and you will be safe.

i duno, mine broke in the snow. i didnt give it any throttle it broke just letin the clutch out! the only way i can see a 30 lasting longer is stock gears. the pinion just gets to small. if you guys are on leafs it aint that hard to swap to a 44.

so what topic are we ytalking here again? Let's kinda focus back on the question, his question is not that a dana 30 is a POS or if it will break.
Honestly teh tie rod flip is a good benefit. I did it a while back, and basically you can just ream or drill and use inserts. gained a few inches clearance, what was not bad. I used a grand Cherokee V8 (ZJ) tie-rod draglink at the same time, a bit more beef. All in all not a bad way to polish the turd. I think I got the inserts from someone here, jeepaholics, or another place, about $10 for the pair. more info: http://www.jeepfan.com/review_retieflip.htm Last edited by geberhard; 03-22-2007 at 03:10 PM. |

I am here to say I don't care what you wheel you can break. And I don't care how much money you sink into one you WILL break. It all depends on how you wheel. If you wheel with your foot and not your head you will break. Take care of your 30 and 35 and it will take care of you. I will say though that the stock form w/35's isn't a D60 but it will get you where you want to go.
Throw some small upgrades in the diffs and again use your head when you wheel it will be fine. Oh yeah don't try to go where your friend is going with his built rig!

sorry your right.
I was looking into doing something like that to get a little more clearance but I want to also beef it up a little. I will keep up to see how it turned out.

If he wants to do some fabrication, installing the WJ conversion might work for him. ![]() Better brakes. ![]() Even better with an HPd30…

when i went soa, i flipped the tie rods, then made new draglink/connecting bar out of dom and got the weld in bungs/jambnuts from mountain offroad.
works great, just watch the connecting bar to spring clearance. my 30 has the chromo's, arb, etc etc and never had an issue with it myself, on 37's with a bored 4.3/700r4. all depends on how/what you wheel in... martin |

tie rod flip
just ream out the holes in the knuckles from the top down to handle a chevy 1/2 tie rod, then using dom tubing make the cross tube, and only ream out from the bottom on your drag link, same chevy tie rod. remember left and right threads.
only problem here is you must run spring under only. |
