Power Steering Conversion Beginning, Need help.
First time doing something like this to a vehicle that never had it so I need to check in see how im doing so far.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...5304012&rd=1,1 My pump i bought, the cj has a 72 302 The box i bought http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...9666544&rd=1,1 has the pitman on it and the guy said it works, well see. it has hoses on it that look like regular clamp hoses? but doesnt one have to be a pressure hose? now my main problem is i need a bracket for the power steering pump that is adjustable because it has to have its own belt , one belt to the alternator and another one to my ps pump. my 79f100 has an 85 302 but it has a different water pump so that style bracket wont work. (this is like the one in my truck http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/69-70...spagenameZWDVW but that water pump is a lot bigger than the 302 in my cj) Anyone have any ideas on the bracket? why do those hoses look like neither is a pressure hose? and for the belt, i can just ask a shop for a length correct? because i will have no idea what belt to get...

I've not done this yet, but I was told to find a any amc 304-401 in a junkyard with power steering and take it's bracket. Only way to get one. Look for Wagoneer or Cherokee or whatever, as long as it has the amc motor.
You might order one from http://www.daveysjeeps.com/parting.html I don't know knything about him, but he has a jeep junkyard and is parting out "over 350 vehicles" so he might have one....... |
