JK Bumper build

So i am gonna start a build on a rear bumper/carrier for my 2dr JK. I plan on making it follow the contour of the corners over to the flares like the one in the link below. My question is what should i use to do this. 3/16 or 1/4 plate, rectangular tube, or a combo of c-channel and plate. This is my first attempt at a bumper and it will probably be a long project. Any help or hints and tips would be greatly appreciated.

Use 1/4" for all critical areas such as where you will fasten to the frame etc.

3/16" for all shielding, and add gussets internally as necessary.

Forget about using C Channel etc, do it all out of plate.

Build the center section first, then start to do the wings, a trick I use sometimes is to put the piece on "fat". Step back look at it and really pick where you want it to transition and plasma it while its on there. Or break it off and cut it then put it back on. Your building a puzzle so be prepared to waste material. Especially if this is your first.

Thats a pretty straight forward bumper. Weld on the D-Rings mounts and forget about bolts like they did it. For a small fee I could model this up and give you dimensions for every plate on that bumper and take alot of guesswork out of your build. All I would need is a few measurements off the back of the Jeep.
