Best Stock Drivers Side Drop T-case?

If you were to be able to put any stock junkyard Drivers Drop t-case into your vehicle, what would the choice be?

Personally I'd be thinking a NP231, but that's only because there isn't a whole lot of drivers drop t-cases out there. With the exception of maybe the ford NP205 but I dislike it do to size, weight, and lack of gearing.

The 231C from a chevy s10 blazer, or the 241c from a late model (92-95ish) c/K truck. Both have 6 planetary gearsets on the input shaft, both have a wide chain (1.5"). Take the input gear from your 231 (21 or 23 spline) and you have an "HD" 231.

Im going to have to say a Rubicon 241OR rock track. I replaced my np231 with it not too long ago and couldnt be happier. I read somewhere the t-case was made to withstand the power from a cummins diesel. The only weak point is the chain, but its way stronger than a 231.

here is a small write up I did on it.

I also agree there are many aftermarket parts for these and can be re-built fairly cheap.

NP205 with a NP203 doubler. Or if length was an issue just the NP205 with a 3:1 gearset. Both available in the boneyard. A NP205 is about as bulletproof as you are going to get in a stock Tcase. Just sucks gearing wise.

02-05 NBS 1500 Rams use a driver drop 241HD with what might be a small count spline input. Chances are its a bolt in swap because theres a few guys who have bolted in Rubi 241s into full size Rams.
