Can the Airtex E2000 fuel pump be used in-tank?

I have only heard of it being used on the frame rail but I'd like to use it in-tank if poss.

I'd be a bit concerned about how the electric would be attached. Most intank pumps have a moulded fitting for a plug that keeps the wires separate.

You definitely don't want any sparks inside a fuel tank:

Several vehicles used an E2000 pump in-tank from the factory.
