You'll also need the kit, the shaft, and a quality set of snap ring pliers. Honestly, try google. There's a handful of really detailed write ups out there. http://links4jeeps.com/ has one. |

here is a Web site that walks you thru the SYE install almost step by step.
http://www.stu-offroad.com/engine/sye/sye-1.htm BTW, this is still the non hardcore forum isn't it? ![]() What happened to this forum being "Flame free"?

Yeah SYE is pretty easy to do.
I did a step by step as well. You can leave the T-case in the Jeep or remove it. I choose to remove it at the time, but its completely up to you. http://www.links4jeeps.com/writeups/231sye/1.php

If removing/disassembling your transfer case to swap the tailshaft seems liek more than you want to undertake, you can consider the Hack&Tap from Rubicon Express (it will be considerably cheaper as well). With a new CV driveshaft it's likely you will not need to modify the pinion angle, hence no need for adjustable UCAs.

its easy, just follow instructions with your kit. I thought it was a lot easier just pullin the case and puttin it on a bench then workin on it under the jeep, but thats just me.

you dont need a sye for 4" lift but look for front housing angle.front cam bolt or ajust lower arm for prevent steering linkage

After installing my SYE a few years back I can't imagine not installing one on any size lift beyond stock. 4-inch is a must. Why even bother trying to drop the case shim this and that. I would spend the money and do it completely right. Rear adjustable arms, CV shaft and a SYE.

Why not just do it right and install the SYE?
Then after that you can install a TummyTuck and get rid of the stock TC and gain a few extra inches under the Jeep? Sure starting off low buck with a drop isn't a bad thing. I mean tons of people do it, but is it the "right" thing to do?

ok, I have another question... as my budget is really tight these days. I'm asking you all about 1'' of bodylift and engine mount and a set of upperarm. it will corret the angle a bit like the sye... and I will save a few hundred $$$ I'm plannig for the SYE later... but for a few months... I can't afford it.
will it be effective as a ''cheap fix'' and I'll also have it later when I'll want to install a belly up. so what do you think ? thanks for your time jo |
