Jeep wont start HELP
my jeep (99 TJ) has been sitting behind my dorm since friday evening (facing uphill, I dont know if that matters or not, doesnt seem like it should ) and i go to move it tonight and it wont start. Its rolling over and seems like its getting fuel, checked all the sparkplug wires and they were good, just keeps turning over and sputtering. I can hear the individual cylinders hitting but it just wont crank. Sometimes she does take spells like that but it usually cranks right up after a little pat on the gas and turning it over for a few seconds. What else should i check? I will have to move it tomarrow due to freshman parking bull shit. Thanks

do the usual stuff...
check for spark..if u dont have it then start at the battery. sometimes they have enough to crank it but not kick it over...if thats good move to the coil if thats good, move to the distributer... if thats good move to the starter... ok if u HAVE spark, lets look at fuel.... how much gas did u have? any chance some gas froze in the lines? try some starting fluid once or twice see if u cant get it going. keep us posted Last edited by 95 camaro z28; 12-09-2007 at 10:59 PM. |

I just had this problem last night. It ran fine the day before but I left the key on over night, killing the battery and sitting in the drive why facing uphill. Gas was dripping on to the floor so I thought that since I have the worst carb ever made that putting it on level ground would help. Nothing. I checked for spark at the plugs, nothing. So we pushed up the driveway, my back is killing me.
Look for a schematic I found one on this site http://oljeep.com/gw/elec/GW_wiring.html though this does not help you there are many ohter sites like it. I'm going home for lunch to check voltage to the coil and the points since I left the ignition on all night.

Check the crank position sensor.
