I did a search didn't fine what I was looking for so, will a gearbox out of a 88/89 XJ work in a 97 TJ? I got the XJ box for free pulled it apart drilled and tapped for ram assist. If it will fit its going in my TJ. The casting #'s is 26000525 if that helps. Thanks for any help!

I just put an 89 XJ box on my TJ last weekend. It's the same box.

Unfortunately it leaks just like my TJ box. So, I'll be heading to the parts store in the morning.

I'm thinking bout going with a Durango box( somehow my 97 Tj came with manual steering) I believe 99-02 v8 durango boxes will work. Anybody else got any experience with the years that will work? I have searched here b4, but have to leave for the night, and no time to search again.

In one of the search threads I read 98/99 on the Durango box. I guess I finish putting the XJ box back together a try it out. Thanks!
