77 cj5 304 carb -> 258 efi swap wiring question

I have a carb 304 77 cj5 and am in the market for a new drivetrain setup. The wiring in the whole jeep is completely butchered, so i was looking for harnesses.

I found this on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...id=p2759.l1259

Could I get the correct 258, use that harness and just wire up the interior? will I have to use the 86 guages? will the speedo need swapped? Just looking for some definitive information to weither this is worth it or not! Thanks!

That harness is for a carbed 258 (4.2 not 4.0). Why would you want that? You could buy a universal Painless harness or similar. I wouldn't swap out a V8 for a wheezing 258.

I bought a junker xj for $500 and swapped the head, intake/exhaust manifolds, and wiring harness onto a rebuilt 258 in my yj. Has been running good for a couple years and i was able to pass CA smog.
