8.8 flange
I just got an 8.8 from a 98 Explorer and I got the driveshaft with it. The driveshaft has the flange that bolts onto the axle. Is this the same flange that I would have had to buy if the axle hadn't come with the driveshaft? I believe the one I need is for the 1310 u-joint correct? I guess what I'm asking is if this flange is for the 1310 ujoint. Thanks.

I think that flange is for a 1330 ujoint, but I'm not positive. I also think you could use that flange and a 1310 x 1330 conversion ujoint with a 1310 driveshaft. I haven't personally done this, so I'm not positive.

Yes, you can use it, but as stated above you have to use the 1310 (stock u joint size) to 1330 (stock 8.8 u joint size) conversion u joint. I had them install one on my new driveshaft.

You can also use a flange from a V6 Ford Ranger w/8.8 rear. It uses the 1310 joint.
