We traded my wifes TJ in on a '01 WJ 4wd and after getting it home, I noticed and issue. I was standing next to the jeep when she was backing out of the driveway and she hit the brakes. When she did this I noticed the caliper move. Upon further checking, the whole front axle was rotating. I've had this issue on my TJ before. I watched it move a few more times and saw that there is play in the lower control arm bushings on the axle side. I called the dealership and they told me that the bushing on the axle side is not serviceable and I would need to replace the entire control arm to get a new bushing. Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. I also checked around the web for replacement bushings and most of the sites I went to didn't say whether it was for 2wd or 4wd. I know alot about TJ's, but am still learning about the WJ. Any input would be helpful. I don't want to spend $144 per arm to get this fixed.
