posting for a friend . he has a 84 cj7 and we had spare pucks from my old yota and sons ford so he wanted to do a body lift on it so he can put his 35"boggers under it . he got the pucks on then noticed that his clutch linkage was hitting the body. extended the parts now everything is good .next issue he has is steering bar going thru cab hitting egr on intake .he wants to know if can remove the bolt that holds the steering slip rod together and let it extend .?
the intake and head are from a h.o. 4.0 head with header.if that helps

If you are talking about the bolt that holds the steering shaft on to the splined section of the steering column, then NO. absolutely no! The steering shaft should have a little slip built in to it. If you are exceeding the amount of slip, buy a new one.

If you remove that bolt, there will be nothing but friction holding the steering together.
