YJ build- TCASE options

I recently picked up a YJ for a low buck build.
It came with the peugot tranny and matching tcase, which was shot.

I picked up an AX15 and NP231 to replace the existing setup. I also have a good Dana 300 in the garage.

The plan is to upgrade the front axle to a waggy Dana 44, and my question is this.

Would I be better off with-

A) The AX15/NP231 with an 80's driver drop waggy axle
or
B) The AX15/Dana 300 with a 70's passenger drop waggy axle.

300 over a 231 everytime. Get the adapter/clocking ring and clock it flat. You are gonna have to "massage" the floor a little bit and grind a little on the 300 though.

Actually you don't need an SYE with that setup- the Dana 300 is in the rear.
BUT- what if I put that in my CJ- that already has a LOMAX 4:1 gearset.
Hmmnh- 2.72 x 4 = 10.88 to 1 in the tcase!
I can hear Dana 44 axles popping all over the place!

I have a T-18 with a 6.32:1 first gear, 4.10s and a Dana 300 with a 4:1 kit, approx 104:1 crawl along with 36" bias Iroks. I beat mine mercilously, ive had minimal issues (spit a u-joint cap out which warped the axle ears), no chromo shafts or super-joints. Just gotta be careful with the skinny pedal when approaching full lock. Unless you are running a rediculously large tire, i doubt you will have major issues if you know when and where you can get stupid with your stuff Good Luck

Well, I chose option (B) AX15 with Dana 300 with 70's waggy Dana 44.

I picked up a complete '76 waggy today for $300!
Been sitting for while, time to see if engine runs. Supposedly ran great until the kid lost interest 5yrs ago and parked it.
Might throw that 360 into the mix as well!
