Jeep Hydrolock Hydro Lock ???s

I did do a quick search but answers do not apply.
Stock 95 YJ 2.5 4CYL AX5 Did I mention stock.I tried passing a friend on the left[bad mistake] I launched off a 6' hill into 8' feet of water 4th low range.Jeep was done.I didnt shut it off but it stopped on its own.Jeep was off, got winched out, tried catching in 5th 2wd and the wheels locked solid.I assume that its hydrolocked.Besides pulling/replacing plugs wires cap oil etc, Is there anything I can do to get it running other than the obvious?4am just outta the shower any help is appreciated.Jeep is 20 miles away and cant swim. Thanks

Hydrolock is water in the cylinders. Water does not compress, so if you tried to start the Jeep BEFORE you removed spark plugs and pumped out the water, you basically made your pistons attempt to compress water. As I said, water does not compress so something has to give. Unfortunately, your internal engine parts is what will give.

You can bend or break rods hydro locking a motor. I have had success in just pulling the plugs and cranking the motor over to get the water out, but make sure you are away from the motor unless you want a face full of water. (I know) Install new plugs and give it a shot, it may take a while to start.

I have seen several 4.0 this season take a dunk and trash the motor. You know what needs to be done to get the water out.

Now cross your fingers and hope that you did not trash the internals when you tried to restart and than tried to pop start it.

Good luck. Our fingers are crossed that you didn't kill your motor.

I filled up my 4.0 winter before last drifting on a swamp being a douche bag and went through the ice sideways at about 20 miles an hour, good times, almost had to go wipe my ass after that one. Turns out a 4.0 holds about 6.5 gallons of swamp water. if u get it going again, make sure you change the oil a few times in the first couple hundred miles, get all that water out of the motor or the bearings will be fawked soon. Pull the dizzy and dump it out too, then wd40 the shit outta it, let dry. Good luck, jeep motors dont seem to know when to die.
