extending links

I have 4.5 springs on the front of my XJ. I need to extend my links to get my caster back to where it should be. What kinda formula do I need to follow to get how much longer they need to be? Thanks

Im going to start with an FSM and a harbor freight angle finder this weekend.

alot easier than trying to do the crazy math.

Umm... here is how I would do it. I would have the vehicle on the lift with the coils removed and lifted to ride height. I would removed the links that need to be changed. I would set my caster anlge where I needed it. Measure how long the link needed to be, and build a new one.
This would be difficult to do if you have the coils in. You also need to make sure you have the vehicle sitting at ride height before measuring. Make sure the axle stays centered when the links are removed. If you are adding to both upper and lower links. Be sure to set the wheelbase desired and then measure for caster second.

That is the super simple way of doing it.

I was looking at my jeep today and actually nocied a "bow" in my springs. I can tell by looking at the coil spring that the axle isn't sitting in the right angle and it's pushed backwards

thanks for the info
