Anywhere else that it might be. I cant find it on the firewall. And what style is it? Is it stamped into the fire wall? or is it on a little plack rivited in? Where on the frame might it be? I know the motor is no good sense its a chevy swap in.

Got any pics?
Ive got a 47' im collecting parts for. SBC t-90 D18 and the Timken rear end. Through My search's I have not found a whole lot of info on the early models, just info on the later with the pointier nose.

cj's should have one on the front of the frame near the front bumper also. i think it could be on the driver or pass side depending on the year, i cant recall exactly. most of these are removed due to farmerizing the front bumpers through the years. on the trucks and wagons i dunno about the frame, just the firewall like everyone else said.

FWIW, it's right here on the early CJ's (just behind the bumper, driver frame rail). Usually mutilated with bumper booty fab or saginaw steering. Stamped aluminum tag, riveted to the frame. Mine was buried under layers of paint but cleaned up just fine with a wire wheel.
There's a similar vin plate on the pass firewall, like on the truck pic up above.
