got a 96 xj with the 4.0 ho... wont start after engine swap from a 96 grand cherokee.. tested crank that was good.. bought a new dist still nothing... it wants to start its like the timing is off.. and if u turn the dist two teeth off it will run but has no power.. i am starting to think that it jumped time... never saw the old motor run just picked it up from the junkyard... it is supposed to have only 80k on it... i am leaning towards a timing issue... what else would screw up the timing... and is there a way to see if it jumped time without pulling the cover cause by the way it looks that is a job involved in pulling the motor... ? cant get it going soon might get stripped but its in good shape.. or get a small block chevy that i have laying around, but i would like to keep the 4.0 in it and make it my dd thanks
