running problem...

iv got a 98 zj with a 318 that has some running problems.......the motor is acting like it is loading up and chocking its self out...the cat was cherry red so i cut it off but it isnt plugged any suggestions?

ya it only does it periodically though.....one person said i need to get the computer flashed to reset all of it

instead of doing that see if theres any codes being set by the engine then have them cleared, see what you can do about the codes it has, ik some chryslers have momentary problems with there egr valve making it do something similar to what yours is doing.

i put it on a snap on computer...everything was good except for the downstream o2 sensor but it is fixed now....i have researched for an egr and i do not think that it has one and i also cant find one...it dosent cut out with very little throttle or full throttle but in between it cuts out and falls on its face.....the only idea i have left is the fuel sending unit...but i dont have the cash to buy one but i have one out of a 94ish strait 6 zj....i am hoping that it is the same...does anyone have any other ideas

if you have accesses to a fuel pressure gauge throw it on and bring it up to the rpm range when it shits itself and see if you have enough pressure
