Best place to pick up used motors

Doing some shopping for a 4.0 97 or newer to swap out my 4 banger and keep street legal. Anyone have a good suggestion where to pick up used motors other than the junk yard...just looking for some options.
Thanks

Located out in CA. that would be a nice motor to have, but I wouldn't be able to keep it smog legal. CA has some pretty stiff rules when it comes to motor swaps. Have been shopping for a beater with a 4.0 or just deciding to just pull it off the street all together and put a V8 in it.

If you are in the market for a motor, I would ditch the 4.0 and swap in a v-8. Best thing I ever did!

I was going to ask first off why 97 or newer? From personal experience,a 96 4.0 HO has more power and gets better mileage than a 97-00 4.0.But then I see,CA.

you can swap in whatever you want as long as you keep all the smog shit on the engine. and the engine is newer than the vehicle. (and get it signed off by smog reff)
