6-Lug Dana44
I have a few questions about a front 44 I came across.
1. What does one normally go for? This one is sitting in a shipping container that a friend owns. He's been holding it for another friend, but that guy is willing to let it go. 2. How hard is it to convert it from the 6-lug to a 5X5.5 setup? Is it just a matter of replacing the outer-shafts and the rotors? 3. What are some good trucks to get the needed parts from? 4. Calipers...they're missing. I don't know if this thing came out of a chevy or a J20. My buddy thinks it is out of a J20. Will most GM type truck calipers bolt-up? Thanks |

1 Depends on where your located and how bad you want it. Last one i bought cost me 150
2 conversion is simple. If memory serves me correct, you need the small bearing spindle from a chevy or wagoneer, a hub and rotor from a f 150 and chevy or wagoneer backing plate. Then use chevy calipers. As for years make, model you will have to search that. Its all out there. 3 See #2 above 4 see #2 above. Use the dana BOM list to find out exactly what you have. |
