lets talk (almost flat) pitman arms.....

Im looking for a pitman arm for a yj box that has about a 1" drop from flat, and possibly a little bit shorter too, and that can be reamed out for one ton tre's. Ive had no luck so far finding what I need, so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
I had a stock yj pitman arm on the truck, and it is about 1/2" too long, and way too much of a drop to work with what i need.

please help!!!

thanks

I don't know if the sector shaft splines are the same, but I have 2 Early Bronco pitman arms about 1" drop and about 5" long. The are reamed for two different ends. I could take some pics if you need some.

CJ7 pitman is flat, and will fit the YJ box. Wagoneer has 1" drop and will fit the box, but both might be too long. I reamed a CJ7 arm for a FJ80 tie rod end, so should work for you.

A grand waggy arm has a 1" drop but is slightly longer than a stock yj arm. What lift/axles are you running? If you have/plan on having full high steer the waggy arm will be fine. Depends on strectching the axle tho, so if you strecth you will ned something else.

running a 3 link with a panhard, and the box is moved forwards on the frame a bunch. the stock yj pitman arm hits the panhard frame mount, and panhard unless the pitman arm is shorter than the stock yj. the stock yj has too much drop(running histeer on a pretty low buggy) and actually has the drag link running from the histeer arm on a downward angle to the pitman arm(i really should have just went full hydro but funds didnt permit so)

right now its just got a cut/bent/welded pitman arm, which im going to plate with 1/8" steel if i cant find what i need in a pitman arm.
broncojohn, if you could post those pics or email them to me that would be great(krisoishi@hotmail.com and if you could put up the measurements) that would be greatly appreciated. i believe the spline is the same on all pitman arms on saginaw boxes, just the keyways are in different positions, but that is easily modified(ground out) with a die grinder

I'll dig them up tonite and get them posted. Have you looked into a shorter box like a toyota 2wd or nissan, that my give you some room to move it forward more?

Check an astro van arm.

Borgeson sells several different flat arms for the 605 box.

High res. pics sent. I was mistaken they are about 8" over all 6", center of shaft to center of TRE hole. The manual box drop is under 1" and the power box is about 1.5".

I second the Astro van arm. They are about the same length as a CJ arm, totally flat, and beefy enough that I think they can be reamed to 1 ton size. Also, the splines are the same and they swap onto the CJ/YJ box just fine.
