Jeep TJ engine swap
ok, so here is my situation:
A buddy blew a rod in his TJ, 99 4.0 auto, and we are gonna do a swap. We found a donor, 99 xj 4.0 auto, in a junk yard and the guy is willing to ship us what we need for $550. I have yet to talk to the guy with the donor. my friend found the engine and wants me to figure out if it will work for him. What are some question i need to ask ti make sure that it will be compatible. i am still researching the issue but i would assume that we just need to make sure that the output spline count from the engine matches the blown one and things "should" fit, right? any info on compatibility would be greatly appreciated! |

Awesome! thanks. the only reason i ask is that i know both jeeps have different transmission, the xj being the AW-4 and the TJ being the 32RH, well thats what Wiki had to tell me. will that cause any issues that i should know about or should everything just "line up" and bolt together as is?
