why can't I exchange Liberty engines - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum

Hi, I have 2002 jeep liberty with a bad engine. I found a 2005 liberty engine with 35k on it but everyone said it won't work with my year but won't tell me why. Do I need a new computer or trans? Can someone give me a real answer? Thanks!

Did you check with the guys over on lostkjs.com forum? That is where I would start. Never did swap a KJ engine, so I would only be guessing, and you know what that is worth!
