I have a 97 TJ I bought that I have just got back running (tranny rebuild) has 170k...it backfires occasionally through the intake, and while driving it seems like a cylinder is dropping in and out losing power while under normal accelleration, if I floor it, it will clear up, I have searched and seems to point to the cps, but I don't want to spend $75 and it not be the problem...I have looked at the basics, cleaned the throttle body, checked dist, plugs, have not checked fuel pressure or replaced filter, but it seem like to me an injector is dropping in and out...any similar problems that might point me in the right direction?

I'd also check the air mass sensor.....also, the perfet fix for this problem is a 4.0L!!!!

did you mean the map sensor...and plans are for a 5.3, just not now
