I have a 1977 ford dana 60 front axle and im looking into building it up. Can it be done? i see that no company makes aftermarket axle shafts for this axle. What does everyone recommoned? thanks
its not a 1977.5, it has the 19 spline outers. Is there a way to run axle shafts from a 1977.5 - 1979 dana 60 or is getting custom axle the only way? thanks
76-77 Ford front 60's are open knuckle low pinion 30 spline inners and 19 spline outers. But they use the HD inner c's.
The shafts are the same length as the 78-79 so you can swap the carrier for 35 spline unit and run them. I have heard that the knuckle and maybe the spindle will need to be swapped for a later unit though as they have a smaller ID?
I found some numbers for the axle shaft lengths and it looks like the 1977 and 1978 have different length axles..anyone have any experiance with this axle?
